Fundamentals of Material Handling and Warehousing Workshop

 

June 9, 16, and 23, 2010

8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Holiday Inn Historic Gateway

This 24-hour course is designed for people working in the fields of materials and/or operations management who need to learn the basic concepts, techniques, and terminology of material handling and warehousing activities in an organization.  Techniques of material control, effective warehousing, and the use of appropriate material handling equipment are covered.

Industry newcomers, warehouse or logistics professionals, and those seeking to advance into managerial

roles should take this course.

 

Cost:  $350 APICS members ($450

non-members)

This course covers basic concepts in managing

the complete flow of materials in a supply chain

and prepares students to complete other APICS

courses that can be applied to the Certified

Professional Inventory Management (CPIM) or

Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).

APICS CPIM designees help to streamline

operations by utilizing the knowledge and skills

received in this program to reduce inventory

levels, improve planning and scheduling of forecasts

and orders and better align the supply chain.  With

the APICS CPIM you will have:

skills to strategically streamline operations.

 

·       Tools to effectively manage global supply

 

·       chain activities where suppliers, plants, distributors and customers are located

This program has educated more than 75,000 manufacturing professionals on essential terminology concepts and strategies related to demand management procurement and supplier planning, material requirements planning, capacity requirements planning, sales and operations planning, master scheduling, performance measurements, supplier relationships, quality control, and continuous improvement.

 

Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)

 

This program provides in-depth knowledge and understanding in the areas of supplier and customer relations, international trades, the use of information technology, and physical logistics.

 

The Fundamentals of Basic Supply Chain

 

The cost for the class is $525.00 and will be held from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday for eight weeks.  The cost includes tuition and books.

Apple Valley Chapter is Now

Part of District 9

  Society has moved Apple Valley Chapter to

  Mid-Atlantic District that will support Virginia, DC,

  Maryland, Ohio, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. 

 

  Apple Valley Chapter has been a part of Region XI

  since it began the Chapter in late 80’s.  This moved

  will  allow the Apple Valley  Chapter to participate in

  more of the District meetings.  The Region XI

  meetings that were often held 8 to 10 hours away. 

  Apple Valley is centrally located in Mid-Atlantic

  District.  Our board has already attended four of the

  six District meetings that have been held.  The first

  meeting was held in Gettysburg, PA and the second

  meeting took place in Harrisburg, PA.  The third  

  District Meeting is was held in Richmond, VA. 

  Several board members attend the first meeting for

  2008-2009 year in February 2009 at Harrisburg, PA

  which made number four for the chapter.  A number

  of the board members plan to attend the June 2009

  meeting in Richmond, VA.

 

  APICS Society relocated to Chicago, IL

  in January 2008.  There will be a few APICS

  employees that will maintain the Washington, DC

  Office during 2008 year.  Apple Valley Chapter will

  kept the members updated as the move takes place.
